The Season 6 trailer for The Chosen is finally here, and I wasn't prepared for what I saw.

In this reaction, I share my thoughts on the trailer, discuss why I believe this could be the most emotional season yet, and explain how the series has changed the way many people experience the Gospel story. I also talk about the historical accuracy behind the crucifixion scenes and why they may be unlike anything we've seen before.

Whether you're already a fan of The Chosen or you're wondering if it's worth watching, I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments!

[00:00:00] I will now be updating the YouTube and podcast feed every Sunday. Make sure you subscribe at either wheelwithit.com slash YouTube or getwheelwithit.com. I thought I would react to the Season 6 Trailer for The Chosen. Now, if you don't know what The Chosen is, you have to watch it.

[00:00:20] It is a multi-season series based on the Gospels, like the Gospels of Jesus. And I don't like most faith-based media because I think it's cheesy. But this one is not cheesy. It's really well done. They have their own free app. So you can download The Chosen app wherever you get your apps.

[00:00:44] On your phone, on your smart TV, on your tablet. Or if you don't want another app on your phone, it's on Prime Video. So if you have Prime Video, you can watch all five seasons on there as well. Now, I will say that if you get The Chosen app, you're gonna get it last because they made a deal with Prime Video.

[00:01:06] Once the show took off, that Prime Video would get it first. And that The Chosen app would get it last. But it will eventually come to The Chosen app for free. And like I said, one of the deals that they made with Prime was... Or one of the stipulations and the deal that they made with Prime was... If they got it first, The Chosen team retained full creative control. So it's not gonna be cheesy or watered down or anything.

[00:01:36] But like I said, this show is so good. Even if you don't like faith-based media. Even if you're not a person of faith. You need to watch it. The link to the trailer will be in the description. First of all, oh my gosh. If that doesn't stop you and you're like, I don't know what will. This is gonna be like any unlike any other crucifixion portrayal that you've ever seen.

[00:02:05] Because if you've seen the previous five seasons or you catch up on the previous five seasons before you see this, You have fallen in love with the characters. That's what they say. And it's true. And to be honest with you, I don't think I'm ready for this. That opening scene is like... It just hits you like right here. And the rip... Interesting fact. I follow this guy. I'm a complete nerd about this stuff.

[00:02:33] Like behind the scenes. Like is it real? Is it accurate? Kind of type stuff. So I follow this guy named Jeremiah Johnston. And he studied... He studied like Jesus' death and resurrection like at length. And he is like an advocate, I guess you could say, for the Shroud of Turin.

[00:02:58] Which he believes. And I'm usually pretty skeptical. But I tend to believe... I'm not gonna say all the way believe it. But I tend to believe it's the actual burial cloth of Jesus. And what he said was... It's... Because he studied like the markings on the picture on the shroud and stuff. Because an image is actually burned into the shroud. So he studied the markings on the picture on the shroud like the wounds.

[00:03:28] And what he said is... That is what the whip would have looked like in the first century at the time Jesus was crucified. Because they wanted to basically maximize torture. Basically what they would do is... I don't mean to get too gross.

[00:03:51] But like the whip was designed to like tear flesh off you as you were being whipped. So as being whipped wasn't enough, you also got flesh torn off you. I don't mean to be gross, but that's what it was. And so I'm surprised if YouTube doesn't pull this down. But we're gonna see. So that is exactly what the whip would have looked like. He had... He has a replica.

[00:04:18] Jeremiah Johnston has a replica that he brings with him on all his podcasts and stuff. Because so many of podcasts are video now, obviously. And he... That is exactly what the whip would look like. So this is gonna be like a hyper, for lack of a better term, like realistic portrayal of the crucifixion. And I don't think I'm ready. But... Like I'm gonna watch it anyways. Because I love the show, but I don't think I'm ready.

[00:04:46] And so please go watch the show. Please download the chosen app wherever you get your apps. And Prime Video if you don't want a new app on your phone and you already have Prime Video. If you have Prime Video, you'll get it first. But... If you don't have Prime Video, you have to wait. Because it comes to the chosen app last. But if you have Prime Video, you'll get it first. But if you have the chosen app, you can get it for free without having to subscribe to anything.

[00:05:13] You just have to make a free account and that's it. So you don't have to pay anything. You just have to sign in. And you can just watch it right there. All five seasons are now everywhere. Prime Video, chosen app. So if you want to catch up on all of the previous five seasons before you go to the... Before you watch season six, which you should. You can watch those anywhere. The chosen app. Prime Video.

[00:05:42] Those are the two main places to get them. But other places have them too. But you can get it on the free chosen app completely for free. You don't have to pay anything. Or if you have Prime Video, you can get it up there. And the preview said a new season six is dropping on Prime Video on November 15th. And then after the whole season drops on Prime, because they're releasing them week to week.

[00:06:08] Then a little while after that, it will come to the chosen app. And they're actually releasing the Crucifixion episode as a feature length film. So the Crucifixion episode is going to be like two and a half hours in theaters. I don't know what's going to happen as far as if they're going to release the... All of season six but that episode on the chosen app.

[00:06:36] And then release season six in theaters. Or if they're going to drop it on Prime, then release it in theaters. Then bring all the season to the chosen app. Including the Crucifixion episode. I don't know what's going to happen with that. But we'll find out together. But anyway, you gotta watch the show. Again, I sound like a broken record but... Download the chosen app wherever you get your apps.

[00:07:04] Or watch it on Prime Video if you have that. Again, if you want to watch it on the chosen app, it's completely free. You don't have to have any subscriptions. All you have to do is make a free account and then you're in. Please watch the show. And I will be reacting to more previews as they come out. And I hope we get as many people to watch the show as possible. Because it's amazing. And again, I don't work for them so...

[00:07:34] I'm not paid to say that or anything. But it's amazing. I will see you guys next video. I know this was short. Hopefully YouTube doesn't take this down. But I know this was short. And I will see you guys next time. Bye! Bye! Thank you for joining us.
